Pepperl + Fuchs (P+F) offers sensors to meet the needs of the worldwide automation and process control markets, in material handling, automotive, printing, metal forming, mobile equipment and packaging industry segments. Inductive proximity sensors are the preferred choice for the majority of applications requiring accurate, non-contact detection of metallic objects in machinery or automation equipment. Proximity sensors are based on inductive, capacitive and magnetic ultrasonic sensors. The correct use of sensors can ensure automatic and reliable flow of goods in modern warehouses and mechanical handling plants. The company also offers a wide range of photoelectric sensors, fibre optic cables & accessories. The brand VISOLUX is said to be an innovator of photoelectric sensing technologies, used for precise, optical control of positioning, sorting & counting processes and custom non-standard applications. P+F is a pioneer in precision sensors, which are used to control paper feeds in paper machinery. Whether printing, folding, punching or enveloping, these innovative sensors provide for ultimate precision in all applications. Rotary encoders can be used in all applications that require monitoring rotation rate, speed, acceleration and direction. These sensors can be utilised in many applications found in mechanical engineering, the conveyor industry, material handling and the packaging industry. The encoders are also used in wind energy systems and ensure optimum machine performance and energy output. The encoders include the industry’s largest range of interfaces, including CANopen, SSI, AS-Interface, DeviceNet, Parallel interface, and PROFIBUS. AS-Interface is a replacement for conventional wiring systems, designed to significantly reduce installation and start-up times while increasing diagnostics. AS-Interface utilises a 2-conductor flat cable to supply power to field device (I/O blocks, encoders, and even safety devices). Applications include valve position sensing, limit switches and flow meters. Products for use in hazardous and non-hazardous environments have been developed to control and communicate valve position for automated rotary and linear travel process valves. The use of AS-Interface sensors and I/O boxes has drastically reduced cabling and installation costs.RFID identification systems are used for object identification. They can be used to automate manufacturing processes and to control the entire logistics of merchandising management through flexible networking. This reduces throughput times and makes variant manufacturing more flexible. It offers a comprehensive range of electromagnetic identification systems (RFID). Object identification is also possible using barcodes and data matrix codes.Beckhoff has expanded its bus terminal I/O system. The new KL2791 bus terminal enables direct connection of single-phase AC motors up to 100 W. In this way the speed of capacitor, universal and shaded-pole motors can be reduced. This technique is particularly suitable for drives with quadratic load characteristic such as fans and pumps. The speed controller is extremely compact and housed in a standard bus terminal with a width of 12 mm. Besides saving energy, a decrease in speed also offers a reduction in noise and an increase in the service life of the motor. It can be used in any bus system supported by the Beckhoff bus terminal system. The set value for the motor speed is specified by a 16-bit value. The motor is switched on and off with a practice-proven mains-synchronous pattern, so that the motor consumes less power and the speed falls significantly. This method is well suited to motors with fixed loads, such as pumps and fans, in order to achieve a setting range for the flow rate from 10 per cent to 100 per cent.
