Food & Bev Tech 2008 witnessed an active participation of more than 100 Indian companies and pavilions from Italy and South East Asian countries

Organised by CII, the 2ndedition of Food & Bev Tech 2008 was inaugurated by Subodh Kant Sahai, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Food Processing Industries; Piruz Khambatta, Chairman, CII National Committee on Food Processing & CMD, Rasna Pvt Ltd and Pradeep Mallick, Chairman, CII-WR Trade Fair Sub-committee at Mumbai, on Nov 13, 2008.

T he international exhibition of Food & Bev Tech 2008 marked a hallmark with a participation of more than 100 Indian companies like BlueStar, HRS Process, Rinac, Testo, Carrier Refrigeration, Heat & Control, John Beans Technologies, Goma Engineering, Srujann, Siemens, ABB, Ishida India, Harikrushna Machinetech, Markem - Imaje, Tata Tin Plate, Netzsch, Ruchi Soya, Beri Cap, Perks Engineering, Domino Print Tech, Frick India, etc, along with pavilions from Italy and South East Asian Countries.

Recognising innovation as the key to success, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) took an initiative to update the industry withthe latest innovative developments. In this respect a unique innovative product pavilion was installed. It highlighted product innovation andthe latest manufacturing trends developed by companies for the food & beverage (F&B) processing industry.The Italian pavilion focused on machinery for dairy, fruit juice, ice cream, pasta making, can food producers, etc, manufactured by Italian companies.

Food & Bev Summit 2008

A summit with a theme, ‘Setting Trends for the Future of Indian Food & Beverage Industry’, to recognise the most recent trends in the F&B sector, promote and endorse the best practices in India was held concurrently. The focus was to highlight key technological solutions which can be implemented to assist the Indian F&B industry, realise its full potential, and identify issues, which will help the players in competing globally.

There werea host of presentations on key issues like challenges and opportunities in food processing, flavours for the F&B industry, latest trends in F&B packaging, food logistics and refrigeration in the summit. This was followed by a special plenary session where the Hon’ble Minister addressed the delegates on the initiatives being taken by the Government of India for the growth of this key sector. Apart from Khambatta who spearheaded this event asthe summitchairman, leading experts from organisations like Eastern Condiments, HRS Process Systems, Heat & Control South Asia, Weikfield Foods, Firmenich Aromatics India, The Paper Products Ltd, The Tin Plate Company of India, Future Logistic Solutions, Blue Star Ltd and Carrier Air-conditioning & Refrigeration shared their expertise at the summit.
