PTC is expanding its technological literacy movement in which 8240 school teachers (650 ITI teachers) in Maharashtra have been trained on its Pro/ENGINEER software. PTC has partnered with the Directorate of Vocational Education & Training (DVET) to provide free Pro/ENGINEER software, training and curriculum/project-based materials to teachers who will in turn train ITI school children across Maharashtra state. PTC already has an active education programme in various institutes and polytechnic colleges across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. This is PTC’s first foray into empowering the students at the school level in India, targeting students in the 13-16 age group. To address the needs of schools in semi-urban areas, PTC plans to introduce a Mobile Education Programme. This program is in collaboration with VIIT, Baramati, in which a bus equipped with computers and PTC solutions travels to schools throughout the region providing live demonstrations and hands-on experiences.
